Even while most people now cook using modern stoves and ovens some still rely on traditional mud stove. Especially in Coasal Karnataka we use mud stoves to cook rice and for sanitary purposes like bathing. However the original mud stove, required a lot of time and firewood to operate. With this in mind and the rapidly rising cost of fuel, we developed the 3-in-1 Astra Ole, which served both cooking and sanitation with just one fire. In addition it has also been found from field studies that the Astra ole is smokeless (so cooking is a pleasent activity for women); it cooks faster – 40% lesser time for cooking than that of conventional ones, as flame is steady and continuous, no blowing of air is required – improves health of women doing cooking activities. This three-in-one smokeless burner, also known as “Astra Ole,” was developed by us in Bantwal, Dakshin Kannada (Mangaluru).

We installed our own, custom-made Steel boilers in place of the copper pots. With our efficient staff and creative methodology we have built nearly 3000 stoves, and the number is continually growing.
